Privacy Policy

Juraj Macak / Groovio ("we", "us", "our") operates the Idea Clear mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App. We are committed to protecting your privacy — Idea Clear is designed from the ground up to keep your data on your device using Apple Intelligence.

1. Our Core Principle

Your ideas never leave your device. All voice recording, speech-to-text transcription, and generative AI processing is performed entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. We have no servers that receive, store, or process your content.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or have access to:

• Your voice recordings
• Your transcribed text or idea content
• Your AI-generated idea documents
• Your search queries within the app
• Your tags, categories, or organizational data
• Your PIN or biometric data
• Your name, email address, phone number, or any account you hold elsewhere
• Your contacts, photos, or other device content

Two things deserve to be stated precisely rather than as a slogan, because the analytics described in Section 6 make the blunt version of each of them untrue:

• Location. The App never asks for Location Services and holds no location permission, so it cannot read where you are. Google's analytics servers do see the IP address any request arrives from, and derive an approximate region from it in the way every web server can. We cannot turn that off, and we would rather write it down than let "we collect no location data" stand.
• Identifiers. There is no login, so nothing is tied to you as a person. Google Analytics does assign a random app-instance ID to each installation, which is how one session is told apart from another. It is not your name, it is not shared with anyone, and deleting the App discards it.

3. Data Stored On Your Device

The following data is created and stored locally on your device only:

• Voice recordings: Audio files (.m4a) stored in the app's sandboxed Documents directory
• Transcriptions & idea documents: Stored in the app's local SwiftData database
• Technical Metadata: Device model, OS version, and creation timestamps for organizing your idea library locally.
• Usage records: Monthly count of AI enrichments used (stored locally for enforcing free-tier limits)
• Security credentials: PIN hash stored in the iOS Keychain with device-only access level (kSecAttrAccessibleWhenPasscodeSetThisDeviceOnly). Biometric data is managed entirely by iOS and is never accessed by the App.
• Preferences: Onboarding status, color scheme selection, and app settings stored in UserDefaults

All on-device data is protected by iOS sandboxing and, if you enable a device passcode, by hardware encryption.

4. Device Permissions

The App requests the following permissions, all of which are optional and require your explicit consent:

• Microphone: Required to record voice ideas. Audio is processed and stored locally only.
• Speech Recognition: Used for on-device transcription of voice recordings. All processing happens locally — no audio is sent to Apple or any server.
• Face ID: Optional. Used to unlock protected ideas. Biometric data is managed by iOS and never leaves the Secure Enclave.
• Notifications: Optional. Used for local notifications only (e.g., recording reminders). No push notification server is used.

5. Crash Reporting

We use Firebase Crashlytics (by Google) to collect anonymous crash reports and diagnostic data when the App encounters an error. This data may include:

• Device model and iOS version
• App version and build number
• Crash stack traces and error logs
• General device state at time of crash (memory usage, battery level)

Crash reports do not contain any of your personal content (voice recordings, ideas, transcriptions, or any identifiable information). This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs to improve app stability.

6. Analytics

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how far people get through the app, so that broken steps get fixed and features nobody opens get removed. This is the complete list of events it sends — there are no others:

• capture_started — a recording began. Records only whether it was started by tapping the button in the app or from outside it (widget, Siri, Shortcut).
• enrichment_completed — the on-device model turned a recording into an idea. Records how many seconds it took, and how many enrichments have been used this month.
• enrichment_failed — the model ran and produced nothing usable. Records how many seconds it took.
• limit_reached — the free monthly allowance ran out.
• paywall_shown — the purchase screen appeared. Records which of the three reasons opened it.
• purchase_started / purchase_completed — a purchase was begun or finished. Records the product identifier and its price.

None of these events carries anything you said or wrote. No audio, no transcript, no idea title, no idea content, no search query, no tag. An event records that something happened and how long it took — never what it was about. Screen-view reporting, which Firebase would otherwise switch on by default, is disabled.

We still do not track you. That word has a specific meaning under Apple's rules — linking your activity here to data from other companies' apps for advertising — and we do none of it. The App's privacy manifest declares:

• NSPrivacyTracking: FALSE
• NSPrivacyTrackingDomains: None

There is no advertising identifier, no fingerprinting, no ad network, no Google Signals, and no data shared with advertisers or data brokers. You are never asked to allow tracking because there is nothing to ask about.

7. In-App Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit 2. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information, credit card numbers, or billing details. Transaction verification is performed on-device.

8. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party and Apple services:

• Apple Speech Recognition: On-device only. No audio is sent externally.
• Apple Intelligence: On-device generative AI processing. No content leaves your device.
• Apple StoreKit 2: For in-app purchase processing. Managed by Apple.
• Apple Siri / App Intents: Voice shortcuts processed by iOS. We receive only the intent action, not your voice data.
• Firebase Crashlytics: Anonymous crash reporting only (see Section 5).
• Google Analytics for Firebase: The seven product events listed in Section 6. No content, no advertising, no cross-app tracking.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Since all data is stored on your device:

• Deleting an idea in the App permanently removes it from the local database
• Deleting the App removes all associated data, including voice recordings, the database, preferences, and Keychain entries
• We retain no data on any server, so there is nothing for us to delete on our end

10. Children's Privacy

Idea Clear is not directed at children under the age of 4. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, no special provisions are necessary.

11. International Users & GDPR

Idea Clear processes and stores your content exclusively on your device. Your recordings, transcripts and ideas are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, so they never cross a border at all.

• No content is transferred across borders by us
• You maintain full control over your data at all times
• You can exercise your right to deletion by removing ideas within the App or by uninstalling it

Two categories do reach Google's servers, which may be located outside your country: the anonymous crash reports in Section 5, and the product events in Section 6, together with the app-instance ID and the approximate region described in Section 2. Neither contains your content. For the legal detail of that transfer, refer to Google's data processing terms.

Because nothing we receive identifies you, we cannot look up, export or delete "your" analytics data on request — there is no key to look it up by. Uninstalling the App stops any further events and discards the app-instance ID.

12. California Residents (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. California residents have the same rights and protections as all other users of the App.

13. Security

We leverage iOS platform security to protect your data:

• App sandbox isolation prevents other apps from accessing your data
• iOS hardware encryption protects data at rest when a device passcode is set
• Keychain storage with device-only access for security credentials
• SHA-256 hashing for PIN storage (the PIN itself is never stored)
• Biometric authentication via the Secure Enclave

14. This Website

Everything above describes the App. This website — the page you are reading, plus the home page and the Terms of Use — is separate, and it is deliberately inert:

• It sets no cookies, and stores nothing in your browser.
• It loads no third-party resources. The typeface is served from this domain rather than from Google Fonts, precisely so that visiting a page about not sending your data anywhere does not send your IP address to anyone.
• It runs no analytics and no tag manager. There is no script on it at all.

The web host that serves these files records ordinary server access logs, as every web server does. We do not use them to build any profile of you.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
